Terry has spent all his working life playing or teaching. He started playing piano at the age of 7, the saxophone at 13 and joined the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry military band at 18, where he spent 4 years.

He served in Germany and the West Indies and spent 5 years with P&O as Musical Director and had 2 world cruises. He also worked with Brittany Ferries for a short time.

Formed the first Big Band Rehearsal Orchestra, Plymouth Youth Orchestra in the mid-sixties which lasted over 10 years. The band performed all over Devon and Cornwall and did 2 London concerts.

Terry has been a professional musician in Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Bounemouth. He also took part in stage shows with Ken Dodd, Bruce Forsyth, Mike Yarwood and many others. He did a Westcountry tour with pop stars The Four Tops and later with The Three Degrees. Starred on radio and television, local and national, with stars including Helen Shapiro and Ralph McTell.
